Urban Intervention

A project focusing on the development of the fringe of Canterbury. Being a city of high historical and touristic
importance, the project concerns the design of three sites which act as key connectors to the city’s landmarks for the tourists and the locals of Canterbury. The project focuses on sustainability in urban design at a city scale: redesign the links and travel modes throughout the city, respond to the opportunities and the constraints offered by each site through site plans which facilitates diversity of movement and sustainable features. We were allowed to look into mode depth in the design of one of the sites, and the one chosen by me was located in the proximity of a site containing the ruins of St. Augustine’s Abbey Monastery. The design provided the site with a museum to exhibit some of the artefacts of the site, and a residential block to sustain the growing number of population.
